Taipei, June 12, 2019: The President of the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee and Olympic Academy, Mr. Hong-Dow Lin, was awarded with the prize “ATHENA” by the President of the International Olympic Academy, Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos, in recognition of the CTOA’s dedication and contribution to the promotion of the Olympic Movement.

The awarding ceremony was held on the Hill of Pnyx in Athens on Sunday, June 2. The CTOA is only the fifth National Olympic Academy in the world to be awarded the prize by the IOA.

The IOA’s award recognises the CTOA's active and consistent promotion of the Olympic values and history and its close cooperation with the IOA in an effort to pass on the Olympic ideals to the young generations.

Following the establishment of NOAs in Spain, Korea and the United States, the Chinese Taipei National Olympic Academy was founded in 1978 by the late Prof. Ming-Hsin Tang, former Secretary General of the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee and Chairman of the CTOC Education Commission.

The Chinese Taipei Olympic Academy Session has been conducted consecutively for 41 years with the aim of promoting the fundamental principles and values of Olympism. Since its establishment in 1978, through this NOA’s dedication and relentless hard work, the Academy has successfully assembled a total of 4,100 domestic participants and 90 international participants from Asian countries over the years.
