Manama, Bahrain, May 29, 2019: Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, a board member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and chairwoman of women’s sports committee, has been appointed as a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Women in Sport Commission.
Shaikha Hayat, who has been a member of the IOC Athletes Entourage Commission for two consecutive terms, is the newest member of the IOC Women in Sport Commission which is tasked with the development and implementation of equal opportunities for women in sport and gender balance.
Shaikha Hayat joins 32 other members in the new panel for the next term. Lydia Nsekera of Burundi is head of the commission while Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein of Jordan is the vice-chairman.
