Bahrain crowns its first Teqball champions

Manama, Bahrain, May 26, 2019: Rashid Jamal and Salman Saad were crowned champions of the inaugural Teqball Championship organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

The duo defeated Abdulla Ali and Hamed Abdulla 2-0 in the final of the maiden event held at the Bahrain Table Tennis Association. A total of 64 players, making up 32 teams, took part in the event. Mohammed Al Ghenaim and Sayed Fadel Radi won the bronze medal.

The tournament was attended by Riffa Club vice-chairman Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Bahrain Olympic Committee secretary general Mohammed Al Nusuf and other BOC officials.

Teqball, a cross between football and table tennis and is a Hungarian invention, was introduced to Bahrain recently. The sport was officially recognised by the Olympic Council of Asia at its General Assembly held in Jakarta during the 2018 Asian Games.
