Tokyo, Japan, May 9, 2019: The organising committee of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Thursday launched the lottery for the first phase of ticket sales for residents of Japan. People living outside Japan will be able to purchase tickets through the Authorised Ticket Resellers (ATR).
WHAT IF I LIVE OUTSIDE JAPAN?
Ready to get your tickets? From May 9, 2019, ATRs can conduct promotional activities in their assigned territories and engage in Olympic ticket promotion prior to the launch of actual ticket sales. ATRs can then commence their ticket sales from June 15, 2019.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
With a record 339 events in 33 sports, Tokyo 2020 will offer non-stop action for everyone – from new sports such as karate, skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing to the more traditional Olympic sports such as swimming, athletics and wrestling.
TAKE THE WHOLE FAMILY
Millions of tickets will be available at affordable prices, with half of all tickets priced at JPY 8,000 (72 USD) or less.

Start by heading to the Tokyo 2020 Official Ticket Website for all the details of the competition schedule, ticket prices, venue lay-out and guidelines.
Applications can be made online only via the Tokyo 2020 Official Ticket Website, and pre-registration is necessary. Do that here: https://id.tokyo2020.org/
This initial stage of ticket sales will continue until May 28, with results announced on June 20. If you aren’t lucky come June 20, don’t worry. You will still be able to request tickets during the first-come, first-served phase, which will commence in autumn 2019.
A further phase of ticket sales will also start in the spring of 2020, offering first-come, first-served sales on a global basis.
