Bhutan NOC General Assembly takes pride in Prince Jigyel’s achievements

Thimphu, Bhutan, April 4, 2019: His Excellency Lyonpo Dr. Kinzang Dorji, President of the Bhutan Indigenous Games and Sports Association, chaired the 20th Executive Committee meeting and 4th General Assembly of the Bhutan Olympic Committee on March 25-26, respectively, at Terma Linca Resort, Thimphu.

The BOC Secretary General welcomed all the members representing the National Sports Federations, the Dzongkhag Sports Associations, Sports Associations and Standing Committees to the AGM.

HE Lyonpo Dr. Kinzang Dorji also stated that, under the guidance and leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, His Majesty’s Representative and the President of Bhutan Olympic Committee, tremendous progress had been achieved over the last 10 years.

He stated that the biggest achievement and one that called for celebration was HRH’s election as an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member on October 9, 2018 at the 133rd IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and HRH’s reappointment as the Chair of the Olympic Council of Asia’s International Relations Committee.

HE Lyonpo also shared that the General Assembly was the perfect platform for all members to pay tribute to HRH for all that had been achieved for Bhutan.

A total of 48 members from 15 DSAs, 15 NSFs and five SAs attended the General Assembly.
