Vientiane, Laos, March 13, 2019: The sports community in Laos is hosting the South East Asia Hopes Week and Challenge in Vientiane from March 10-15 as part of the International Table Tennis Federation development programme.
The organisers held a press conference on March 7 at the Laos National Olympic Committee HQ to promote the event.
Chaired by Mrs. Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun, who is the Minister of Education and Sports, President of Laos NOC and President of the Laos Table Tennis Federation, the gathering attracted a host of local sports dignitaries.
They included Somphou Phongsa, Vice President and Secretary-General of Laos NOC; Sengphone Phonamath, Director of Elite Sports Department at the Ministry of Education and Sport and NOC Secretary-General; Somchay Vongsa, Secretary-General of the Laos Table Tennis Federation, as well as Executive Committee members of the NOC and Vice Presidents of the Laos Table Tennis Federation.
“I would like to thank you, the sponsors for your support for the Laos Table Tennis Federation to make the ITTF Regional Hopes possible. We are committed to promote the ITTF Hopes Programme in Laos and also in South East Asia, especially by organizing this international event and also providing more training and exposure for our promising and potential Hopes players,” said Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun.
The venue for the South East Asia Regional Hopes Week and Challenge is the ITECC Mall Vientiane. Eleven boys and eight girls will participate.
