Macau, China, March 22, 2018: A delegation from the Olympic Council of Asia visited the venue for the Macau leg of the OCA’s Asian Games Fun Run Series on Thursday morning. The fun run will take place on Sunday morning, March 25, and will involve 800 students from local schools. There will also be representatives of the national sports federations that will be representing Macau in the OCA’s 18th Asian Games in Indonesia this August and September.
The OCA delegation was greeted by representatives from the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China at the Macau Stadium, which is used for football and athletics championships. The fun run will start and finish inside the stadium and will cover 2km around the adjacent sports complex, with a podium to be set up for the prize presentation.
Stadium staff explained the arrangements for the fun run and the facilities that will be available for the runners inside the stadium. The OCA is organising the Asian Games Fun Run Series in collaboration with the Asian Games organising committee INASGOC and the National Olympic Committees throughout the five zones of the OCA.
The fun runs will introduce a young generation to the Asian Games in particular and to the Olympic Movement in general and also help to create an awareness of leading a healthy lifestyle and taking part in sports competitions.
There will be around 30 fun runs in the programme, and they will end one month before the Opening Ceremony of the 18th Asian Games at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on August 18. The Asian Games will be held in Jakarta and Palembang, capital of South Sumatra province, from August 18 to September 2 and involve 10,000 athletes from 45 NOCs in 40 sports and 462 events.
