Manila, Philippines, August 3, 2017: IOC member Mikee Cojuangco Jaworski of the Philippines spoke about the role of athletes as ambassadors at the ASEAN 2017 Dialogues at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City, Manila, on July 31. ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) 2017 Dialogues is a three-part forum and webinar (web-based seminar) which discussed the three pillars of ASEAN and the Philippines’ Chairmanship this year.
Retired equestrian rider Mikee, who won the gold medal in individual jumping at the Busan Asian Games 2002, spoke at the third and last of the three forums which was entitled “ASEAN Identity”. The theme focused on how establishing one ASEAN identity can lead towards integration and better harmonisation of policies.
“Proud and blessed to have been a part of the ASEAN 2017 Dialogues: ASEAN Identity at the Asian Institute of Management, speaking on athletes as ambassadors of our respective countries,” she said on her Facebook account, which has over 1 million followers.
The event was organised by the Asia Society Philippines in partnership with the Presidential Communications Operations Office – Committee on Media Affairs and Strategic Communications and in cooperation with the Asian Institute of Management.
