OCA's young reporters join Incheon AIMAG

Date : 29 Jun 2013

Incheon, Korea: The Olympic Council of Asia's Youth Reporter Project (YRP) is bearing fruit here in Incheon at the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. For the first time since the YRP began in 2012, two students from Macau and Malaysia will be part of the OCA media team at a major multi-sport games.

Miss Lai On Nei, 15, from Macau, China, and Mr Jonathan Raj, 16, from Malaysia, will be attending sports events, interviewing athletes and visiting the Main Media Centre and Athletes' Village to see how the media works on a day-to-day basis at such an event.

Their articles will feature on the OCA website and a selection of them will be published in a special edition of the OCA's Sporting Asia magazine celebrating the 4th AIMAG.

The YRP was launched in 2012 as part of the OCA's Fun Run and Learn series to promote the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, in September 2014.

So far it has been conducted in eight NOCs: Mongolia, Oman, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Macau, Maldives and Bhutan.

The winner of the project in each NOC has been invited to attend the Incheon Asian Games in 2014, but in the meantime will gain some work experience at either the 4th AIMAG or 2nd Asian Youth Games to be held in Nanjing, China, from August 16-24, 2013.

The OCA is hoping that the YRP not only promotes the OCA, the Asian Games and the Olympic Movement among the students in each country and region but also produces a new generation of sports media once their education is complete.
