27 Jul 2014
Incheon, Korea: The four winners of the OCA Youth Reporter Project (YRP) in Incheon, Korea, gathered at the HQ of the Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee (IAGOC) on Sunday morning to receive their prizes from IAGOC and a briefing on the YRP for the Incheon Asian Games. Kang Ju-hyuk, 13, Park Min-sung, 13, Nam Goong-min, 14, and Park Joo-mi, 14, were selected by a panel of five judges following the YRP on Saturday.

The four local youth reporters will join OCA YRP representatives from Cambodia, Vietnam and Tajikistan at the 3rd OCA YRP, which will run from September 27 to October 4 – the second week of the 17th Asian Games.

Nam Goong-min, of Shinsong Middle School, said she was looking forward to improving her English skills and also to watching the action, in particular the fencing competition.

“I am so excited to be chosen and I think it will be a lot of fun,” she said. “I am also looking forward to making some international friends and joining the youth reporters from the other countries.”

The students listed badminton, football and fencing among their favourites of the 36 sports on the Asian Games programme.

OCA and IAGOC will put together a daily schedule for the YRP at Incheon.

Sixty students aged from 13 to 15 attended the YRP on Saturday, when short track speed skating star Park Seung-Hi was the special guest at the press conference exercise.

The OCA YRP was held in conjunction with IAGOC and under the auspices of the Korean Olympic Committee.
