Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The International Olympic Committee Evaluation Commission visited Kuala Lumpur from May 8-9 to assess the proposal of the Olympic Council of Malaysia to host the 127th IOC Session in 2015. Comprising Mr. Ng Ser Miang, IOC Vice President from Singapore, Mr. Willi Kaltschmitt, IOC member, and Ms. Anna Sampieri, the team visited Kuala Lumpur and the proposed venues – the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Mandarin Oriental.
Overall the Commission was satisfied with the proposals submitted. The IOC will soon confirm the dates of the 127th IOC Session in 2015. The OCM’s proposal is for July 25-31. The Commission members were provided with details on the space to be booked for the Session, the International Broadcast Centre, the Media Centre at the Mandarin Oriental and KLCC.
They also wanted assurances from the government on the issuance of visas to all participants and clarifications and details on security and the budget.In other news from Malaysia:
The second session of the Advanced Sport Management Course 2012 (Fifth Edition) concluded on May 13. The 13 participants of the four-day course presented their case studies with active discussion based on the two modules of the Management Manual on the first two days.
Ms. Moira Tan, Hon. Asst. Secretary, OCM, said the participants had learned much from one another in the group sharing of the topics: Organising an Olympic Sport Organisation and Stragetic Planning.
For the next two days they were guided by two facilitators, Mr. Ong Tah Fatt and Mr. Wan Yew Leong (Programme Director), on Managing Human Resources and Finance Management, which will be the case studies for the coming session.
