Bowling Masters top five show off their medals.
Curtain falls on 3rd GCC Women’s Games

Manama, Bahrain: The 3rd Gulf Cooperation Council Women’s Sport Games came to an end on Wednesday, March 13, with host nation Bahrain running away from their rivals at the top of the overall medals table. Bahrain won 24 gold medals, 17 silver and 12 bronze for a total of 53, well ahead of Qatar (9-7-7-23), Oman (5-3-13-21), Kuwait (3-9-10-22) and UAE (3-8-10-21) in the five-nation, eight-sport event.

On the last day of competition in the March 3-13 Games, Bahrain’s Noora Sultan grabbed the bowling Masters gold medal with a score of 1,150. It was Noora’s fourth gold of the Games, having won the singles, doubles and team events before the Masters title, and she received her prize from the Bahrain Olympic Committee Chief Executive, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

The concluding day of the Games also saw Qatar win both the 25m pistol singles through Nasra Mahmood and team gold medals. Meanwhile, GCC Women's Organising Committee Chairwoman and head of the 3rd GCC Women's Games Executive Office, Shaikha Naima Al Sabah of Kuwait, chaired the Executive Office meeting and congratulated Bahrain on the successful organisation.

The office also decided to submit a letter of congratulations to the UAE Olympic Committee President Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum on the occasion of the UAE winning the athletics for disabled overall title.
