Vientiane, Laos: On the occasion of the Incheon Asian Games Fun Run in Laos on Thursday, July 7, the Olympic Council of Asia and Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee co-hosted a media reception in Vientiane. The function received a lot of positive feedback.
Besides China’s Xinhua News Agency and Korea’s YTN 24-hour news channel, 13 local news agencies, newspapers, websites and TV networks joined the reception and multi-media presentation.
Vientiane Times sports reporter Sangkhomsay Bubphanouvong said: “It was a perfect media presentation of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, exactly the kind of information a journalist like myself needs to know when writing about the Incheon Asian Games.
“I especially liked the video presentation of Incheon and OCA. It was a very professional video presentation which kept me focused from start to finish. I really enjoyed it.”
Si Hongliang, Xinhua’s Vientiane bureau chief, also gave the thumbs-up to the media reception and offered his recommendations for the future.
“The information was enough for us and the local media,” he said. “I hope the OCA can organise a media tour and bring media from different countries to Incheon for first-hand experience. That could be more effective.”
Oudom Singdala, deputy head of the Information and Media Division of Laos NOC, believes the multi-media presentation promoted the Incheon Asian Games in Laos. “The reception really attracted the attention of the local media and stirred their interest in the 2014 Asian Games,” he said.
“I have spoken to many media people about the reception and all of them were satisfied and impressed with the way the OCA and IAGOC organised this media event.
“What I recommend for the future is that the organisers offer the media a programme schedule to help us follow the event closely. Overall it has been a successful event and we would like to thank the OCA for choosing Laos to host the sixth fun run in 2011.”
