IOC President to visit 2020 Olympic site in Fukushima

Tokyo, Japan, November 15, 2018: Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, is set to visit Fukushima when he arrives in Tokyo for Olympic-related meetings later this month.

Fukushima Prefecture will host six baseball and softball matches when the sports return to the Olympics for the first time since 2008 and the IOC President has penciled in the city as a stopover on his 2020 Tokyo Olympics site inspections, according to....

Timur Dossymbetov enters Modern Pentathlon Hall of Fame

Limassol, Cyprus, November 14, 2018: Timur Dossymbetov, the first President of the Kazakhstan National Olympic Committee, has posthumously been included in the Hall of Fame of the International Union of Modern Pentathlon.

The executive committee of the UIPM at its 70th Congress held last weekend in Cyprus decided the eminent Kazakh sports official, a former world champion in pentathlon, be inducted into its Hall of Fame.

Qatar considering Iran offer to host 2022 World Cup teams

Doha, Qatar, November 13, 2018: Qatar is considering an offer from Iran to host teams during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, according to a top official in the organising committee.

Asked if teams could be based in Iran for their training headquarters, chief organiser Hassan Al Thawadi said: “This is part of the operational plan, but obviously it will have to be done with FIFA.”

Eleven Asian NOCs qualify for ANOC World Beach Games

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 12, 2018: A total of 44 National Olympic Committees from all five Olympic continents have so far qualified for the ANOC World Beach Games San Diego 2019, the Association of National Olympic Committees announced on November 9.

Tokyo, Japan, November 12, 2018: World champion Xu Jiayu of China clocked a world record time in the men's 100 metres backstroke at the FINA Swimming World Cup in Tokyo on Sunday. Coe calls for all countries to take part in 2019 World Athletics Championships in Qatar

Doha, Qatar, November 12, 2018: Sebastian Coe, President of the International Association of Athletics Federations, has urged all countries to participate at next year’s IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha.

Lord Coe, who stressed that sports take precedence over politics, was speaking in the Qatari capital on Sunday when organisers launched ticket sales for the first major athletics showpiece to be held in the Middle East.
