Tianjin 2013
The 6th East Asian Games took place in Tianjin, China, from October 6-15 and was the last in the current format before it switches to a youth games in 2019 for athletes aged from 14-18. The host of the inaugural East Asian Youth Games has yet to be decided. The 10-day multi-sports meet attracted 2,422 athletes from nine countries and regions to compete in 24 sports and 254 events. China, who fielded 516 athletes and competed in all 24 sports, collected a total of 134 gold, 79 silver and 51 bronze medals to defend its top position in the medals tally.
