Introduction

Organizing sporting events has never been a big task for the City of Doha, where many international sporting events are organized every year. But games like the Asian Games, requires a specific plan with concentrated efforts involving various governmental and non-governmental agencies. To steer these diversified activities, the Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee (DAGOC) was formed on October 2001. The DAGOC under the patronage of the Qatar National Olympic Committee (QNOC) and the city of Doha, in close cooperation with the Qatar Government, is working diligently to meet the preparation schedules.

 

DAGOC'S Mission

DAGOC's Mission includes exercising all powers and authorities conferred on the Organizing Committees by the Olympic Council of Asia and by the Host City Contract.

The role of DAGOC is as follows:

• To prepare the Master Plan for the Games in Co-ordination with the Olympic Council of Asia

• To set out and implement the necessary plans for the organization of the Games.

• To determine the requirements for organizing the Games, including sport and non-sport facilities, materials and equipment, transportation, communications, accommodation, catering, etc., in compliance with the Host City Contract made with the Olympic Council of Asia, and to take the necessary action to provide the same, taking into account the best utilization of existing facilities and equipment.

• To coordinate with ministries, other government bodies and pubic corporations regarding organization of the Games.

• To carry out any other activities necessary for accomplishing the committee's purpose.
